    Yes...

Shiny bar (slick, turned, steel bars)

It was back before I knew any better (though one could argue common sense should have told me)...It was on a step deck, and I didn't build a bulk head. I had to hit the brakes hard because an RV stopped in the middle of the interstate (I20 in LA)....
    WHAM!!!

42,000 lbs of steel bars pushed me forward about another 10 feet...almost hit the RV, but didn't (had about 6 inches between us when I stopped)

I wasn't following close...but I wasn't expecting some idiot to just stop in the middle of the interstate either.

Crappy cell phone pic of the coil I'm hauling now...

If I have a choice I won't load them shotgun, but I didn't have a choice this time...

    34,000 lbs. coil...4 chains (2 crisscrossed, 2 "C" chained...and 2 straps over the top)

Kinda blurry and not enough "field of view" to cover it all....but I meant for it to show how close to the front of the coil I keep my chains. The crisscrossed chains are no more than 2 inches in front of the coil, the "C" chains are about 6-8 inches in front down where they attach to the trailer...and both sets of chains went down through the same stake pocket.

bamanation and Saddle Tramp Thank this.

Something else you can do. See where your edge protectors are? You can run one more chain on each side horseshoe. Put a e/p on the top like you have and a e/p on the bottom of the coil. Have the chains go back to about a foot behind the front and back of the coil. Pulling towards the center of the coil. Need 8 e/p's to do this, (both sides, 4 on each side) 2 chains and 2 binders. Works better than a coil block. Keeps coil from telescoping from top and helps secure coil. A little time consuming, but can be quicker in the long run.

I worked with maverick years ago. Didn't get any training. After first day i was put with trainer and that sucked big time. He picked me up and was already loaded. After we emptied out he had emergency so i sat on hotel Will different trainer can. After two loads his wife died. So back to hotel again. Got ride with driver back to yard and i quit. Almost 3 weeks and learned nothing but hotels suck.

And the point of bringing a dead thread back to life after 6 months just to contradict yourself in the first 2 sentences is what? :biggrin_2559:

Just kidding around some but I often wonder how dead threads just keep being resurrected like this.
