Any opinions on which company is better of the two??? Both companies said his applications was approved and want to talk about orientation. We have to make a decision quickly. Would appreciate as much feed back as possible. I've read alot more good than bad on both companies. They both provide weekend home time. We live in the Dallas metro area. He is a recent grad and wants to do flatbedding. Maverick pays 32cpm and increases to 41cpm up to a year and also pays extra flatbed pay 90% is pre-tarped. McElroy pays 40cpm flat tarping included in pay and 75% is pre-tarped.

Maverick is to Mcelroy what BMW is to Ford. Better freight, better equipment, better people and better pay(which you already know). Loads are not pretarped though for either company so I think there is a miscommunication there. Maverick tarps 9 out of 10 loads. I highly doubt Mcelroy is being truthful that they only tarp 75% of their loads as most Mcelroy I see have their loads tarped. Maverick pays extra to tarp, extra stops, minimum weekend pay if you dont get home, minimum short haul pay and a very easily attainable fuel bonus. Go Maverick and you'll never look back.

From your location either would work. Its a major metro area. its a toss up? the area you are in they, can both get you in on the weekend, and unload or reload every monday.

The tarp pay adds up and becomes a couple of thousand dollars by the end of the year. It gets frustrating tarping at times for the little that we do get....I can only imagine what I would feel like if I was doing it for free. It is hard work and I would.not work for any company that was not paying me to it...because they are charging.g for it..plus I am expected.to keep them repaired on my time.

Just curious....this is a maverick thread...did you expect anyone to recommend MCElroy?
I am.sure you could be happy and successful at either company. I can not imagine though that it could be a better experience than I have had here at maverick.
Might I suggest praying about your choice.....it always works for me!
    Best wishes and Merry Christmas!

What about the securement training? Maverick could not be out done in that department. Maverick will pay you while you are in training and orientation. As for the pre tarped trailers I missed that part. Also you live right in the middle of where we haul a lot of glass. Look into the glass devision at Maverick.

I've been with Maverick for 3 months and am very pleased with my decision. Training and support have been great.

My husband decided he wanted to go with McElroy. I tried to convince him otherwise. Just hope it's the right decision. The Maverick recruiter said he could get 6 months drive time experience and to give them a call if it doesn't work out. Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for the feedback.
