the question i have is maverick or swift im wanting to get into this trucking career asap. i dont i have my cdl yet but im workin on it but im wondering if i should just do it myself or go with swift and go thru their school. i have been doin the practice tests on here and are passing them with 100 percents. maverick pays better than swift is why one reason i kinda wanna go with them the only problem i have is they have autos. and i dont perfer them, have been around them in tandems and they have no power for my likin, but for the pay and getting home almost every weekend is a plus as well i just would like some in put on this im having hard time chosing and you drivers can help me with that i wanna know what you guys have expreinced with these companies. i figured that gettin my cdl myself would be better than goin thru a company school
maverick or swift

and most times your first company will pay a monthy amount towards your school payment for as long as you decide to work for them. if you go the company school route, most times you have a year contract to stay in order to pat off the schooling.

well i wanna get it myself but i heard its alittle harder to get than go to a school or company school. i figured that gettin it myself would be better for myself so i dont have to sign a contact or anything but i dont mind if i have to do that. but i would rather get it myself and go with a good company than gettin into a mess

Well if you gotta buddy with a truck or you have the money to rent one. You can go take your tests and road test at DMV or dps and get your cdl and maverick will hire you. I know because they offered me a job without school. But I'm alot like you and don't wanna drive autos so I paid for school and now I'm headed to Werner on Monday.. But yeah maverick is like the only mega carrier I know that'll do that. Most companies want school. Anyways good luck!

honestly i wanan stay away from autos cause of nightmires ive seen heard and been thru anyways i also think i should go to a school and get exp. then once the contract is up i can do wat ever i want but wat if i get mad and sick of the pay what happens if u leave after lets say 6 months

ya but i wanna knw if you can make payments on it, not saying id back out and everyone that has worked for swift seems to like em my problem is the pay but i may suck it up and just do it cause i want this career badly but i need to get this #### done at home in order to leave for their school. and why do most companies want your w2 forms?

On a mechanics side, Maverick is very good about fixing issues they have with trucks. I have noticed that swift is less likely to make needed repairs until truck is brought to their own terminal.

well i want to get the career underway. these are my two companies that i would take on but ive also talked to other companies but these are the two that i pick. one i need to get my cdl on my own and the other will train me and give me a job
