I have seen and read the official policy on home time. Asking some real, current drivers what your hometime is like? I have a 1 yr old and a 2 yr old I would love to see as much as possible. Any info on regional? I live about a hour or so from Laurinburg and was thinking of specialized. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If being at home to see your children grow up is a priority for you, OTR trucking and even regional trucking may not be for you. Even if you get a regional job that promises you 2-3 days at home a week, your home-time will go extremely fast. While at home you have to wash your clothes, re-stock your truck with food and other supplies, get yourself some rest, take care of your Honey Do- List, take care of any of your business (doctor, dentist, bank, barber, etc.), spend some quality time with Mama, and spend time with the kids. Before you know it, it's time to get back on the road again.
RACEFAN Thanks this. -

I ain't looking warehouse work... I was just wondering how Mav's home time was. Would like to be home most weekends. Just didn't know if hometime means you get to swing by home and say hi and bye in the same breathe.

I am lookin at TMC and Mav, but Mav sounds sooo much better. I am not tryin to get caught up by hype and am prior military so I know all about recruiters. I'm just looking alittle truth and honesty from the great men and women IN the industry, not anothergripe session.

Was not trying to give you any bull, but trucking is in an bad downturn now, many, many company's are having there drivers just siting around,or if there hiring, they are the bottom feeders AKA JB hunt,ex,ex.You need to stop an truck stop and talk some drivers from TMC or MAV .Check out an good book called sweatshop on wheels. It will little time and luck to get the exp to need.

Thanks Sewerman, that was what is was wonderin. Would it matter where you live, how soon you got home/ had to leave out? Or is it a combination of where you load/live and unload?

Camofrawg83, Dont even think about going to maverick specialized. They only get you home twice a month for a 34 hour restart and the work is more dangerous than typical flatbedding. You can find numerous info on them by googling or searching in this forum. They have had well deserved bad reputation for a long time, and they deserve it. I used to drive there.
