I feel like I need to do an acceptance speech like at the grammys or something....
The recruiters tell me the wait can be 2-3 months. A couple other people have told me it may only be 4-6 weeks. The recruiter said I should just be ready when they give me the call. I've been waiting to quit my job since the day I started so I'll be ready. I've been pretty patient and it did pay off. I'll continue to use the boards and update my progress as I go along. I look forward to someday adding my knowledge and $.02 to some noob questions! Until then, answer all of mine, please!
And to think, I almost went with Swift or Prime! -
oh, i didn't hink it would be that long........
hey listen in the meantime, keep sending out your resume` and fill out applications. i personally wouldn't wait too long to get going, as winter is coming, and by tonights forcast, it'll be into the low 40's tonight in my area...... -
Yeh no kidding it was 42 on friday all the way up to today. It is 50 right now. And I saw some really light light snow on friday. Winter is almost here YAY.. I love winter only for the FOOTBALL SEASON THE ONLY SEASON!

Well I have applied to a few other places, (got approved to go with ROehl too) but Maverick is my first choice. I'm not in a super hurry as I have a good paying job, I just don't want to work in retail management anymore. I feel if I wait and Maverick doesn't work out, I'll go somewhere else. I believe it will, though. I've talked to a few of their new recruits and they all had to wait like 4-6 weeks but they all got in. I think they only train a few at a time or only have a select few trainers which is why they have the long wait. I hear their training is top notch and the job is worth the wait, so I'm going to be patient for now. I look at it this way, if I don't start my CDL training until November, it will be January/February before I get out on my own so we'll be in the middle of winter starting to come out of it when I'm all alone. If I start school in 3 weeks with Roehl, I'll be on my own in December and have an extra month or two of winter driving. Either way, I'm pretty patient and can wait it out. I'll keep doing my management job until I find the right company (hopefully Maverick) and then I'll be all set.
I do appreciate the advice, though....and I will still be checking out other companies to be on the safe side in case something falls through! -
Sounds like a plan stinger. Good things come to those who wait. If it makes you feel any better, I still have about a year left before I can start my new trucking career, and I can't wait.

Roehl is a good company also. My husband works with them and he has been very satisfied with them. Good luck which ever way you go!
-
Yes I have heard lots of good about Roehl also. I don't want to slip seat in order to get decent hometime, so that left me with their Nationwide fleet. That's what put them at #2 on my list. With Maverick, I can be home almost (they say 98% of the year) every weekend and still pull the miles that I need to make a living. Roehl would work fine as well if things with Maverick don't work out.
-
I have finished training and just completed my first week on the road with maverick.....yes I am home this weekend....I got a 2007 freightliner with 13.6 miles on it.....all my equipment is brand spanking new in the truck......Maverick taught me the right way to do my job,the company has one of the best safety ratings for a reason, they care about safety and back it up with people who care about their jobs and yours.......I made a good choice....wonderman
