They’re building a Maverick truck stop in Lincoln NE right next to Shoemakers. If they have truck parking hopefully they keep all the locals run out and make them stay at the truck stop they already ruined.
IH9300SBA, Flat Earth Trucker, D.Tibbitt and 5 others Thank this. -
I stayed at Shoemakers last week. Never saw so many dropped trailers and locals.
Flat Earth Trucker, D.Tibbitt, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this. -
Been that way for years. Everyone that parked across the street moved their junk over when it closed down.Flat Earth Trucker, BlackjackCo, PacoTaco and 1 other person Thank this.

Is Shoemakers that one stop that's way out on the west edge of town where the one freeway (I want to say 77) splits off from the mainline 80? I half-remember stopping there once or twice years ago, I remember the inside being pretty nice. I think there may have been a truck stop across the street that looked closed down (or was close to it)—if this is the one I'm remembering...Flat Earth Trucker and Long FLD Thank this.

That’s the one. It used to be real nice, the one on the north side was trashy and full of junk trucks and trailers. The one on the north closed down and that’s when all the junk moved across the street. The back part of Shoemaker’s lot looks like a salvage yard now. I stopped going there when you couldn’t find a parking spot in the middle of the day to shower.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.

I jokingly call it the "Came and went"Flat Earth Trucker, JC1971 and Rugerfan Thank this.

Some are almost-full-service stops open 24 hours with overnight parking. Perry, UT. Big Springs, NE. Baker City, OR.
None of them have showers though, and turning the fuel pumps on is a pain. Have to go inside and wait in line behind everybody paying for their Cheetos, Mt Dew, and cigarettes. (Time to do better on that IMO.)Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.
