Finally a thread I can add to. Running I40. From mount airy nc. To bakersville Cali. In a 70 mph govered truck is 5.5 to a 6 shift drive. Providing all Cali truck limits are ignored. No way to make it make it back in a single 70 hours as a solo driver.
Right at the bottom of cali, where I think its highway 15 meets I40. It states NC is 2?00 ish miles away. This is also a hard 4 to 4.5 shift ride.
So starting in NC going to Cali and coming back. ( round trip) Not including running in Cali is a 8 to 10 shift ride at 70 mph.
And forbid any accidents happen on 40 and your not near any exits. You might as well take a 8hr right there in the break down lane. Taking the alternate route will keep u moving but won't save time.
In my five years of driving my first three where to Hayward Cali and back to Nc. Most of my good trucking stories are from Cali. So speaking of my own opinion you can keep that state. Even if I lost something there I wouldn't go back to find it.
