sleeper berth you have 11 hrs driving time per day plus 3 hours "on duty" (fueling, loading, unloading, etc) for a total of 14 hours per day. Then you take 10 sleeper berth again and so on to a max of 60 hours in 7 days or 70 hours in 8 days (depending on which your carrier uses. Then you do a 34 hr "reset".

Now watch how many people will argue with this.:biggrin_2559:

well it is not exactly 11 hours per "day" that you can drive. Since it is 11 hours driving and 10 hours off, it is like a 21 hour cycle.

First you can work your hours the way most seasoned otr guys do and not burn up all your hours. Most days try and work 8, or 9 hours until you start to get hours back. But sometimes a load will force you to burn all your hours up and then you're stuck. You pretty much have to take a 34 or run illegal.

Ok hard do the math 11 driving plus 10 hours off duty plus 3 hour on duty not driving is 24. Now legally speaking you are not suppose to go over 14 a day total driving/on duty not driving. Once you have started your 14 hr clock the only way to stop it. Is go to sleeper for a min. Of 8 and a min of 2 hrs off duty not driving.
That being said I have taken 10 hrs off duty and not had a problem. The way I understand a restart. Is you run out of your 70 for the week. You take a34 hr restart and you have 70 hrs again.

    I have question though.
We used to gain hrs. As the 8th day fell off the back of the 7 days.
Meaning what hrs were on that day we would gain back. Is this still applicable Or did the restart do away with that ability.

So most companies receave during the day so I will work 8 or 9 hrs a day and sit the rest. That is how I am out 10 days at a time.

You use the home time when you get home, with most companies running otr you are out for 2 weeks, 1 week out with most regional companies. You will hardly ever work 14 hours a day every day running otr. You wouldn't make any money that way cause you'd be sitting every 7 days you need to learn how to work the hours in the 7 days so you don't burn up hours. Because on the 8th day you gain back the hours you worked on day 1. So if you only work say 9 or 10 hour days then most the time you will be alright and could run for two weeks then you get to use your home time which is 2 days usually.
