I have been wroking to get national publicity for this. Listen to David Webb on Sirius/xm patriot at noon today for details.
On May 23rd, 2011 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm EDT, Truckers are being asked to pull their trucks to the side of the road and shut down for one hour to gain the attention of Washington, and focus it on soaring fuel prices. Over regulation, the lack of new exploration, the lack of refining capacity and transportation are believed to be responsible for the higher diesel prices.
A caller to Sirius/XM Patriot's David Webb Show, on April 23, suggested a one hour demonstration protesting higher diesel prices. From that call, plans for a shutdown have begun. As diesel prices soar above $4.19 per gallon, truck drivers and companies are finding it increasingly difficult to deliver freight without increasing rates. Increased rates for freight, increase the price of everything else from milk to toilet paper.
Organizers hope that a highly visible shutdown of one hour will be enough to put pressure on Washington to ease regulations. When trucks don't move, nothing moves. Food, fuel, household items and raw materials for manufacturing are all carried over the nations highways by truck. It is hoped that a single hour will focus enough attention on the issue that longer shutdowns will be unnecessary.
National Radio Personality and Tea Party leader David Webb has set up a web site for truckers interested in communicating with other truckers about politics, the tea party, and trucking issues. It was on this site that the idea of a Pull over hour was first mentioned. More information about the protest, as well as information about Tea Party Truckers in general can be found at the site: www.teapartytrucker.org
May 16th 1 Hour Shutdown moved to 23rd

Maybe I'm alone on this but, I don't think an hour is enough... If you really want to get their attention park it for a week or 2. Maybe, and this one might be over the top, but extremely effective, block off all on ramps and exit ramps, or the highway its self for an hour or 2 once a week or month. I'm just saying if you want to really get their attention, parking for an hour isn't gonna do it. It's time to think out side of the box! Sure some people might be arrested, but you know what? That's a risk I'm willing to take to get my Country back on the right track! How do you think this Country was formed? It wasn't by parking their horses! Our founders took "Real" Action! A lot of people lost their lives for this country! What kind of people have we become?

It may come to something like that, but we need to start somewhere. You know that convincing company drivers to do something like that would be next to impossible. I agree with you that we may need to be disruptive at some point. This one hour is a starting point to begin to get organized. David Webb will be broadcasting this one hour shutdown on sirius Xm patriot in about 15 minutes. It is supposed to be on Hannity and Fox next week. What we are trying to do here is get the news media to pay attention. An hour may not seem like much, but if we make national news media noise, believe me, it will have an effect. If it does not produce results, we will have to get more drastic, I agree.

You are correct. We do need to start somewhere. If the carriers weren't in bed with the politicians they would support a move like this. Most company drivers won't do this for a few reasons,
1. They don't pay the fuel bill
2. There are 25 other people that are ready to take their place behind their wheel and they know it
I am a company driver but the way I see it... losing my job is a small price to pay for changing our country!
Those who won't help are gutless and have no right to call themselves Americans!
We should get Glenn Beck on this. -
What farm were you raised on Muddbog? Who are you to say someone cant call themself an American and are gutless if they dont join the cause? I am involved in alot of causes and i dont look down on people that are not involved in my causes its called a choice thats suppose to be what America is all about!

One hour won't do anything.......
Instead, spend that hour getting all of your family and friends to CALL your legislators about these problems., Then get their friends, and their friends and ...........
That's how you get something done.Onetruckpony Thanks this. -
Thomas0810:
You my friend are not gutless because as you said you are involved in alot of causes, you are doing your part. I'm talking about the people sitting on the side lines that would rather ride on the back of our coat tails!
Sho-tyme:
Your are correct sir! 1 hour is pointless. 1 day isn't even enough. You do what ever you are gonna until it changes something.
IMHO I don't think call your Legislator is going to do anything either, but I guess it's worth a shot.keepntruckin and Thomas0810 Thank this. -
As long as idiots pull for pennies, no amount of protest/strike will ever work.
The people that think..."As long as the wheels are turnin' I'm making money"
are part of the problem....
Of course when fuel goes up, nature takes over and the idiot herd does tend to 'thin' out somewhat.
Working Class Patriot, keepntruckin, outerspacehillbilly and 1 other person Thank this. -

wont do a #### thing. i like the high fuel prices, to a point. i adjust my rate to reflect my cost. these cheap haulers are disapearing left and right because they cant afford to run. if you cant shutdown for at least 1 week with out going broke your not getting paid enough.
