    Hi all,

checked May`s website recently & curious to know if any recent hired drivers know the present rates on May`s new pay package?

Newbie to Exp. cents per mile?

has the 90 for 90 flat rate pay also gone up?

if running West 11 dry van...are there alot of runs into Colorado & Montana?

    Thanks in advance!

First 3-6 weeks is $72? Then .34CPM. After a year, .36CPM. Which is behind swifts new pay scale of .36CPM to .39 after a year? But from what I've heard, if you threaten to quit, they offer you more to stay. Sad part about that is they take advantage of the loyal ones who continue to work at .36CPM.

Think it's $90 a day guaranteed for the 90 days...

If you're mileage rate is higher, you get that amount I believe.

From what I observed at May, the 11-western folks will never get their extra miles paid, because they will start to throttle your miles before you go "over". Whenever I could, I asked drivers (that had done 11-western) if they got any extra after 90 days. None had.

(The 48-State guys did collect on the deal, though)

I certainly thought that I would be due close to $1000 when I finished my first 90 days, but nope!

Sign on to May. Get trained. Pay off your bills. Get out of May at one year.

I am not expecting a bonus at all. In fact, I'm roughly getting $1,750 a month, GROSS.

When I left May 3 years ago I was grossing around 6k a month. But, I was a trainer.

I never had problems getting miles even solo driving, so long as I stayed on the 48 and stayed out at least 3 weeks at a time. Which is precisely why I left, not home enough.

Being a trainer and being a solo driver is 2 different worlds. One requires no experience, while the other requires 1. If you aren't a trainer after a year with May, WTF are you still doing there? But yeah, it's possible to make $8k a month as a trainer. Just run the clock hard, doing 5,000 miles a week.

I'm not sure you're addressing me? I never said I was averaging $8k a month. I said $6k a month. I was making .46 cpm as a trainer when I left May. You do the math, that is no where near 5k a week. As I've already said in another thread, I guarantee you there is not 1 trainer at May averaging 20k miles a month.

In addition, I grossed $42,000 my first year at May as a newbie at .30 cpm. That was without being a trainer. My pay there progressed upward from there over the 3 years I was there. That's not a lot of money to some people, however, it really helped me stabilize during a very difficult time in my life economically.

May is a training company. They make no qualms about that. However, so are Gordon, Schneider, Knight and few others someone mentioned here.

My goal when I first started trucking 6 years ago was to pay my dues and move up the ladder. I just bought my own truck and do very well as an independent contractor. This industry is wide open for anyone who is willing to work hard and put the time in necessary to learn the ropes.
