Go to May do your job and you will get the miles... Yes you will stay out at least 3 to 4 weeks at a time, you will spend a lot of time in the northwest..the winters are touugh but it is a great place to start. I have been with them nearly a year now. The only downside I see is they don't offer any yearly safety bonus etc like other companies do. Just my 2 cents. In my opinion it is one of the better companies out there to start out with..

I put in a little more than a couple years with them around '02-'05. I got a ton of miles! I'd stay out 8-9 weeks at a time, and would often times shut down in places I wanted to check out. I was out of the Layton, Utah terminal and don't really have anything bad to say about them. I had a brand new Volvo with a 13 speed, and they gave me that right from the start. Even then you would spend a lot of time in the PNW,(yes, you will become very good at putting on chains) but I was okay with that. Often times I'd go from UT to OR, then to MN to GA, then from there I'd go to SC and back to UT. Only state I didn't run while I was with them was MI.
I got more miles than I could drive, paper logs were a plus, and I got a lot of the good, long runs. But, I stayed out forever without home time, I was never late for a delivery and I kept my mouth shut and did my job. They treated me great and I still think highly of them. I only left because I followed my dreams to Alaska where I spent the next 5 years of my life. I'd certainly recommend them to anyone who wants to WORK.
Also, they were not a starter company when I worked for them either. It was pass your road test or get back on the bus and go back to where you came from.

What is the starting pay, (cents per mile)?

Does May Trucking have per diem? If so, how much is the per diem per mile? Also, is the per diem mandatory?

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

No per diem..but not getting it certainly helped me at tax time. Starting pay is 36cents a mile after a year you go to 39 cents a mile. As far as a normal life I wouldn't do otr if I had kids at home, mine are all grown up.
