Joker said it best this morning, the grass is greener on the other side because it's been fertilized with bullsheat.

That's exactly what AT has been doing here ;-)

:biggrin_2559: ok whatever dude. I can backup everything i've said. All you can say is "its the same crap no matter where you go" even though you've only driven for may...

Pardon my ignorance... what company is W/S?

Anybody have knowledge of or experience with Old Dominion Freight Lines?

AT, May isn't the only company I've driven for.

    @ AT

When I finish school, I will have a diploma from a technical school and my CDL. I can apply at any company that hires students from that school. Just so happens that W/S and May are two of them.

I like both and yes to a certain extent some of the deciding factors boil down to dollars and cents. But....If one chooses to try and get on with W/S, they better be pretty confident in themselves to drive a truck because with only 11 days to prove yourself...well you know.

Would I like to make a few more dollars with company A than company B? Of course. Do I have the confidence to go solo after 11 days orientation? Don't know just yet.

If I don't feel like I am capable of running a large truck by myself then I have no problem sacrificing a few dollars my first year to be with a trainer at company B.

It all boils down to what works for one person may not work for another. May Trucking may not be the highest paying company out there to start but they are not the lowest either. I want to learn to be a safe driver first. I can worry about higher pay later.

Watkins Shepard. Ask AT. He can tell you all about them. He is the PR manager for them :biggrin_2559:

Sorry AT, I just had to!

    W/S is Watkins Shepard Trucking.

I know a few Old Dominion drivers, that is one LTL carrier where you are almost garenteed to start on the dock. Around here they pay like $23/hr or so if i remember right. Its a good company though when you can get into a truck.

I dont know anything about their OTR side though

Hey American Trucker, what does W/S stand for? I am either looking to apply for May, JBS or Knight refrigerated. Would W/S be a better option?

Are you that ignorant and blind you re on a May Trucking thread asking a guy that never worked for may about which is better, do your research dont take it from one guy.

and for american trucker you remind me of a guy that bashes the military and hates em, but deep down inside wanted to join. You probaly put in an app for May and got denied thats prob why you have so much hatred.

May is a great starter company to get your feet wet. They ve been good to me. They have good equipment and will run you if you wanna run. Theres some people that wont be happy any company.:biggrin_25513:
