Stay away from May. I remember they used to have help-wanteds in the Salt Lake Tribune on a daily basis, meaning you wanted no part of that meat grinder....I'm sure nothing has changed there, either.

I don't remember the name of the company but they have a terminal east of Boise just as you are leaving town and can be seen from I-84 on the north side of the road. Just guessing it's about the 60 or 62 mile post...

If you're interested, Dip, here are two more companies you should be aware of:
1. Crete--CCC has a terminal in North Salt Lake. When I drove for these guys, I was in southern Idaho a lot, especially after I joined their western fleet. This is a pretty good outfit that's worth working for.
2. Interstate--based in Tacoma, Washington. This may be a bit far for you, but I remember seeing Interstate trucks all over the west while I was driving. -

Does anyone know anything about May Trucking Company (MTC)? My husband is considering applying with them as a new driver and since I couldn't find any information on here I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

To your husband, Lucky:
If this is the May that is based in Idaho, I'd avoid them. I used to see their help-wanteds in the Salt Lake Tribune every day of the world, meaning they have very high turnover. You may not know it yet, but you don't wanna ever work for a company that advertises in the papers like those reefer outfits around the Salt Lake Valley do. If you don't know this, it won't take you long to figure it out, especially if your first company is May. But you don't have to figure it out on your own. Take my word for it and you'll be far better off. Don't learn the hard way that only the bad apples advertise in the papers regularly. I already went that route, so I know I'm right.
First step--avoid May.
Second step--get a copy of the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper for a week to ten days straight and look in the help-wanted section.
Third step--open your yellow pages and mark off all the companies that have advertised for drivers in the newspaper every one of those days.
Fourth step--throw a party because you now know who you DON'T wanna work for.
Yeah, in trucking, knowing who to avoid is winning half the battle. And sometimes we can win that half as easily as opening our local newspapers to the help-wanted ads.

I'm a truck driver
All these bad companies want me to come and drive
But I don't work for companies
Who'll take drivers who are dead or alive

:smt100 When I ran the West Coast would run into the May drivers alot in Oregon at the Pilot I found the majority of the ones that passed thru that fuel stop to be rude and very inconsiderate to female driver. I would not reccomend them. Hope he finds a good company they main idea is to stick with who ever he hires onto for two years then he can almost pick the company he wants and will have much better choices. Good luck to the both of you and God Bless
