Squaredeal... Thank you for your post. I'm sure that the negative posts come from those that have issues to bark about and they make or take time to do it. Those that are happy spend there time doing things that make them happy. Not posting on hear. Witch is too bad. We need more positive post. Or I should say more informational posts.
As for me I am on hear trying to find information, Good or Bad to help me decide what trucking company will work for me. The more that you are willing to post, the better for all of us that are seeking to know more about trucking.
Squaredeal... continue to post your experiences with May. How things go in the next few mouths. The miles you get and how you are treated by your DM and May. More is better. Keep on posting. Thx...

I respect your postion on this matter. Sounds like you have been doing this for awhile. I definately have had to adjust and just play the game. Much different than twenty years ago. I am getting miles, getting home every month for four days when I want and my DM is pretty much just leaving me alone except for lining me up with loads so I can keep moving. Thanks for the reply. -
My daughter gave birth to my second grandchild last week and when I told my DM about it she got me routed through town so I could see him. I only had a few hours but it meant a lot to me. I am taking my four days a month off right now and do not have a lap top computer so I only check this site once a month. Good luck to you.....Last edited: Apr 9, 2010

I`ve been with May for a few months now coming from Swift after 6 months of experience. My experience is good and bad. don`t believe what the recruters tell you, from any company. The best way to get miles is haivng a good DM. Mine is better than the 2 I had at swift but there is still communication gaps more often than I`d like. When I started I was just running up and down I-5 even though I said I wanted western 11. After several weeks of less than $300 take home I had to go 48 state to get any kind of decent miles and I`m still waiting for them. There is alot of stuff they don`t tell you that they need to but since it only helps you out, they "forget" to tell you or give you a BS answer. They aren`t the worst company out there but far from the best. They do alot of thinks very strange compared to Swift but I`ve had a easier time at May than at Swift but I think it`s only cuz I have used my experiences with Swift along with a little common sence to handle most of the issues I`ve run into with little problems. At this point I don`t know if it was a good or bad decision to go to May or not but honestly if I can get the miles I`ll put up with the BS till I can get a local job.

May trucking company has a lot of liability to manage. It is easy to assume that every driver is just as skilled or experienced as you the bottom line is there are a lot of drivers who are benefited by this helpful information because their not on the same LEVEL as you.
I understand it makes you feel like your being "micro managed" or "not capable of thinking for your self" But the truth is May trucking sends these message because they really do care.
Would you be upset if another driver called you on the CB to say "hey driver there is a accident up there around the next corner look out!!!" Of course not you would say thank you driver I appreciate the heads up.
this is no different, how could someone be upset when all their trying to do is help!
Or think about it this way :
Say they didn't say anything about a restricted route that a previous driver rolled a truck over or killed someone. The newer to the area driver not really knowing this information continues on and has a fatal accident taking out a law officer or whoever. Mind you, it is a privilege to May Trucking to have the authority to operate it's business not a right. If this did happen and they made no effort to warn a driver their held just as liable if not more then the driver at fault. The DOT has the full legal right to revoke any companies authority to operate. That being said not only is May trucking attempting to help it's drivers out they are also PROTECTING your right to a paycheck.
Some ignorant drivers might say "who cares I could find another job if they fold" And while that could be true if the next company don't do what MAY does they to stand a risk of falling to the hammer.
I feel like a lot of drivers are really in the dark about what it "really" takes to keep a company running efficiently. There is not many drivers who could walk on the same egg shells, trust me on that. I'm more then happy to be the understanding driver who can get in the truck grab gears and enjoy the freedom of the road, which most drivers just take for granted anyhow. I know I have THE best job in the world, with out question!
