I doubt it. And you would be better served hiring on with a carrier who was headquartered closer to your house then OR. If the company you work at does not have a terminal in your state then don't work there, I say.

I talked to a Opal on the phone last week, she said they were'nt hiring from CA right now, to call back mid- Feb. Does this sound right? Do they hire from CA very often?

yes they do hire out of CA all the time as it is one of their main routes, BUT what their not realy telling anyone is they have a hiring freeze in place at this time. For how long no one is talking about. Also the company culture is changing and not for the better from a drivers stand point cant use the co van on weekends in Payette or Layton have to walk or order in food, can't even B.T over to the Walmart in layton (less than 1/2 mi) disp tells you no against CO policy.. Also making it difficult as possable to get OIL, antifreeze, washerfluid ect for the truck while on the road. I'm guessing that they want the drivers just to pay out of their pockets and not get rembursed for it.

They do have a hiring freeze right now for CA. To many drivers from there and very little frieght.

As for the rest, you are right Techman, May has turned into a #### hole company. You can't do a thing without then telling you to.

They will tell you when to stop because of bad weather.
60 mph trucks that you can't take over 1400 rpm, EVER.
No bob tailing, No get the things you need to run the truck.
They even tell the O/O where and how much fuel to put in the refers.
Heck I'm surpised they don't tell there drivers when to breath.

I'm sorry you're having such difficulties, I've been running my tail off since christmas. I've had preplans before I'm even done with the load I have. Or at most waited about 10hrs for a load. I had reefer issues last week from the cold out east, they fixed them no problem. Even got stuck because one of the repair facilities never bothered to tell me the snow covered lot was have grass, I was given a PO for that charge w/ out question once I sent in a pic. I've gotten most everything I need. I'm still getting used to the procedure but I've no issues. I even was told the 4 wheeler that lost control on a snoy icy lane and ran into my truck on Sunday was a nonpreventable.

They usually run new hires pretty good to start out but as time goes by they will have other new hires to keep happy and your miles will drop as your pay per mile increases.

A friend of mine was quite happy with them until they started sitting him on the weekends away from his house and his miles went down to under 2000 a week.

    Hope you have better luck.

I worked there a little over 6 months and had no complaints when it came to miles. Just the equiptment and the amount of short runs they give you . But I had been off the road for awhile and was just using my time at May to get another job I had lined up.
