SuperSingles supposibly give you better fuel mileage and reduce weight.

Bad if you blow one out. You're just there. Atleast on duals I can limp somewhere.

My company has the Michelin X One tires (aka Super Singles) on some of it's trucks too. The guys that drive 'em say they're smoother riding and handle better. I'm glad, however, that the company decided against putting them on all trucks in the fleet. As already mentioned, they'd be a real pain in the rear if one blew out. I saw a CFI truck on the shoulder not too long ago with a blown out super single on the trailer. Probably cost that driver at least 2 hours if not two to three times that long to get it fixed.

There is a chip hauling company here in the state that runs recap super singles. They shred alot of them. See them on the side of the road allll the time. Well, they run chips, logs, and regional flatbed.

If you drop down into our "Storage trailer" section, you will find a long and informative discussion of wide base tires. Should be about the third thread from the top.
