Hello everyone! I've been lurking on here for awhile now, looking for a career change. I put my app in for school with Millis last night and just got off the phone with the recruiter. I've got the ball rolling and am seriously thinking about starting my career with Millis. The posts I have read here have been very helpful. Thanks to you all.

Thanks Baritone. I have pretty much read your entire thread and quite a bit of the others. The idea of trucking is not new to me, as my dad has driven for 38 years, my uncle for 20 years and my brother in law for 10. My biggest decision has not been whether to do it or not, it has been whether to leave my current career and who to work for if/when I do.

I would say 98% of us are happy here for the most part. The other 2% you will always see at the terminals biatching about no miles, or the sort. Thus far I'm liking it. They are straight forward with me as I am with them. Seems to be a good combo. Best of luck with whoever you decide to go with.

i worked for them from 94-96. never had a complaint with them at all. my dispatcher name at the time was Jay, great guy, don't know if he's still there or not.

that man ran me ragged for over 2 months. i was whinning a little to a friend of mine that also worked there and had Jay. he explained that that was the way he did it. run your di** in to the dirt until you cryed uncle. then he know how you ran and where your breaking point was.

he never ran me to that point again, but he gave me lots of miles and i made some real good coin with him.

if it weren't for a divorce i would probably still be there. would go back to them if i wanted to be a company driver again.

Thanks for all the info guys. If this is the route I take, which it looks like is a strong possibility, then I will be attending the school and all. The recruiter is verifying my work history, which is pretty simple since I have only ever had two jobs, the military and where I am now. So once all that is taken care of then we will really start the heavy talking.

    running in the mikey lane....

an adage back to when millis had triple digit trucks and mike millis was a driver.

used to see another millis and yell over, what's up mikey, we all knew who was being paged.
