    you're not going to find a diesel that can do that consistently either. Year after year.

    Sub zero temps. See how many truckstops have mechanics trying to get trucks rolling.

    You forget. I drive trucks too.

    Having issues in sub zero temps is 100% on the driver and not the equipment. Many people run in those conditions year after year with zero issues.

    It’s ok to admit that battery technology isn’t where it needs to be and there’s no way our grid can support a full switch to EV. You can still like EV’s while admitting they have flaws.

    Another consideration is the so-called 500 mile range. That’s when the battery is absolutely perfect and you’re not really using the truck as a OTR truck whether air conditioning and other factors make a difference. Let’s say for the sake of argument. It is absolutely perfect and you get 500 miles. You still will have to cut your day short of that because Your battery is gonna say it’s almost out of a charge and you don’t want to have a tow truck grab you. So you may have to shut your truck down 450 miles or 400 miles. You’re not gonna just stop in the middle of nowhere and find a charging station. There’s also traffic jams or road closures that can affect range limitations, so a driver may only doing maybe 350 miles in order not to get towed. It’s a no go unless you’re doing airport operations or local deliveries. No one is going to want to invest in a piece of equipment that can’t do the job. Let’s not forget the weight of the tractor. The tractor is so heavy you can barely even haul anything at all other than potato chips. We would require an insane amount of electric trucks to haul freight. Freight rates will go through the roof, potentially the carbon footprint as well as so many trucks would be needed, and it is really not clean energy as we would want it to be. We would need a vast greater amount of trucks on the road to haul the freight and that is a lot more lithium batteries. Lithium is not the greatest thing either. For the guys that know me, I had nine procedures done last month in order to breathe again after lithium poisoning. So much for a clean air ?!

    This is already a very competitive market. This is an owner up section and I question if you are an owner up because you seem to be oblivious to the challenges of owning a trucking company.

    @Short Fuse EOD

    How does one come down with lithium poisoning?

    And how is it treated? Symptoms?

    Last I checked ev’s are made out of wood and rawhide, so yes no oil. Well maybe a little old fashioned whale oil. Lol.

    Tires made for Tesla average 15,000 miles a set. At around $400 a piece to replace. Thats 6 to 7 sets of tires to get 100,000 miles out of that ev. Thats a lot of oil consumed in one cars lifetime.

    My exposure was by inhalation of burn disposal of lithium batteries. Treated for years by steroid nasal sprays. Treatment did not work so surgical procedures cutting out all the damaged tissue was required. Even after still only about half better. But I’m still healing so maybe it will improve.

    Because the driver has control over every possible scenario?

    100% is a very big reach.

    Batteries won't be around forever.

    The damage done to extract the minerals to make LiPo batteries and other lithium style batteries is far worse than a few oil wells in the Gulf. We don't have an unlimited amount of lithium. What happens when we run out of that?

    Kinda like these windmills that people act like are so green. What they don't mention or don't know? What do you do with these MASSIVE fiberglass blades once they have reached their life limit and cannot be recycled? They are quickly piling up in huge landfills.
