Nobody made the claim that ONLY temp effects range, of course other things do. But we're discussing why temp affects range.

We're comparing two "identical" situations, where you have an EV driven on a perfectly flat road in July (think I-57 north of Kankakee) and that same EV driven in January. Same winds, same roads, same load in the car, same exact charge in the battery. Everything MUST be identical in our "road test" or else your results will be erratic and worthless.

Another real world reason that cars don't go as far in the winter, believe it or not, is tire pressure. In cold, air pressures go down. It's not a huge change, but it's there. Many cars ride around with underinflated tires during the winter. People forget to re-check them when it gets really cold.

There is nothing wrong with diesel smoke. It is heavy and settles quickly. EVs aren’t the answer. They are too expensive, too costly if one wrecks, too heavy.

And yea truck prices are manipulated. Big time. All of trucking is. Today they build a truck that lasts their warranty period. Companies sell and trade them quickly. The price is based on that. Hourly rates for repairs at dealers are also manipulated. They have so much warranty work and like health insurance can bill whatever they want because they know it will get paid they charge the average guy who comes in these same insane rates. It shouldn’t cost more an hour to have a mechanic work on your truck than it does to see a doctor.

And you know in other countries they don’t pay what we do. We pay what we pay because they think we can afford it. It’s not because that’s what a part of service costs.
