asking for a friend, after applying for a new authority he found out that the insurance cost is too high due to a lot of violations on his record(40k from progressive),i advised him to wait till some of those violations get a bit older, the question now is there a time limit on the insurance requirement to activate the mc,will the number expire let say in a year?
    Thx in advance

He will get a letter from FMCSA stating if he does not have all his documents in by a certain date... (I think it is 60 days) or he will have to apply again.

And 40k is not normal from progressive so he must have some really hefty tickets and live in a high price state

That’ll do it. Maybe he should reduce his radius? I just played a round with my agent recently and he said that 25k is the norm.
