    Thanks fellas. Made he journey today. To Van Horn at least.

    I drove from Lubbock to McAllen earlier this week and took 10, 281 so I was familiar with that route and knew the issues with traffic and San Antonio. I decided to gamble and try 83/277/90/285 and was glad I did. Pretty cool scenery. The stop and go traffic was crappy until I got to Zapata or so and there were a couple BP checkpoints but it wasn’t a bad ride. I have driven all over Texas for 25 years but had never taken that route so it was something new. Time wise I am no sure I was any faster than 10 but it was different scenery. Del Rio to Sanderson as nice views.

    I have gone that way quite a few times. You are right, the scenery is amazing. It's typical to see truckers with a big #### eating grin on their face, waving as they pass you from the oncoming lane. What's not to like? You are getting PAID to see what most folks take vacations to see.
