My husband called yesterday and left a message inquiring about his application, he got called today and said the lady was a little short with him because he left a message with the wrong person and told him that Mcelroy doesn't do pre-hires & that they will get back with him. Is that true? Maybe I misunderstood him, he is taking his driving test today & called me on his lunch break but I had to get gas and that was a nightmare so it took to long and I couldnt' call him back, have you ever heard of this?

Their recruiter told me to call them about 2 weeks before I graduated from my CDL course so we could get the app process started. I've moved them to near the bottom of my short list due to talking with former drivers who reported 1000 to 1500 mile weeks as the norm.

Perpetual drives for Roehl, his thread is here.

Make sure your address is within their hiring area, and that they are offering the schedule that you want before you contact them. You may have to 'move' to another zip code if you would rather not work a 14/7 schedule, or prefer to team, etc.

I've heard good things about McElroy; I just don't think I could afford to work for them.

Pre hires hires are worthless and mean the company might hire you. So don't worry about them

No such thing as prehire @ mcelroy...... these folks are bad news especaily for students just getting out of school. I work for mcelroy and very few trainies ever make it..... so student beware. Best to break out some where else

7 weeks is the training period 2 weeks class 4 weeks with driver trainer and final week in Cuba Al. Most never make it through the 4 weeks with the trianer. The trainer can put you off the truck @ any time for any reason he deems. Not a real good place for learning.... good luck and remember you are not hired really til you got your own keys and your own truck
