You need documents of why they will not hire you. Also you have rights I think it is under title 10 section 10 of the soldiers and sailors relief act, but I am going from memory on that. Try contacting your Unit and also the VA. I will tell you that you can open a can of worms doing this. Some places will look to teminate you without listing your military status to keep from getting in trouble. However, after Desert Storm 90 a lot of changes have been made in favor of the uniform. Thanks for Serving! I have deployed twice so I know of the hardships it brings.
I am a OTR driver and we lost one of our drivers in Iraq not long ago. So there are co's that will hire you.

fnlou88,Hey. Are you still with McElroy ? I noticed that you run out of N.C. What is your primary running area ? How is the work/miles ? Any info you can give would be appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Yes I am still with McElroy. Got home today about 12:00pm. Here was my past week:

Sunday - Loaded in Skippers, VA, delivered to Dickson City PA. Empty: 98 miles, Loaded: 570 miles.

Monday - Loaded in Deposit, NY, delivered to Suwanee, GA on Wednesday. Empty: 58 miles, Loaded: 860 miles.

Wednesday late (thursday morn) - Loaded in Bridgeport, AL, delivered to Blowing Rock, NC. Empty: 165 miles, Loaded: 306 miles.

Thursday - Loaded in Old Fort, NC to be delivered to Reading PA on Monday. Empty: 66 miles, Loaded: 568.

So, I will turn in my bills for all but the load that is on me now today, and get paid next Friday for 2057 miles at (my current rate) of 41 cents per mile.

    Hope that helps!

I have a friend who is a trainer with them. Last I heard they were not training any more until things pick up. I will see if they are training again if you want. He has been on here a few times. His username is overheard. I picked out his handle for him and helped him decide on mcelroy. He would be good trainer to have. Real nice laid back guy.

Keep me in the loop. I'm desperately waiting on an answer from them early this week and before I leave for Werner orientation next Monday!

fnlou88, if youre getting paid for 2057 miles how many miles did you actually drive? I know for a fact Mcelroy is taking 8% of each load miles off of what they are paying you per load. for example.. Proctor WV /to somewhere in VA ...drove 390 miles but only got paid for 260 miles and the bill states 360 miles on it or are you the only one theyre not doing this to? this is a constant that i see every week now. This equates to about 600 miles per week of lost wages at an average of 5 loads delivered over 600 drivers equaling $12,000.00 per week of unpaid wages to those drivers. Are you seeing this as well?
