About to start CDL Training school and have been doing a lot of research on possible companies to apply to. To of the companies at the top of my list are McElroy and Epes. Was not originally considering flatbed because I was told most flatbed companies do not hire anyone in late forties and older. Not really sure if this is true or not. Maybe someone in this thread can enlighten me. I don't mind the extra work and am in good health. McElroy seems like a great company to start with. Hoping to find a company I can start and stay with. I've never been a job hopper. Worked for the same company for over 20 years until they closed do to the economy. Just wondering if anyone could give me a bit of information that would seal the deal for me. Any help would be appreciated.

I was pre-hired by Maverick in my mid 40's so I do not think it will be a problem if you are in your late 40's. Decided to wait two and a half more years so I can get my retirement check before doing this, been on my job going on 23 years. Have not heard much about McElroy but heard good things about Epes. Good luck!
TreeMac Thanks this. -
Can anyone at McElroy tell us a bit about the equipment? I know the website say ProStar+, but do they have APU's, bunk heaters, or how are they about idling? Can you install inverters? Fridge? Microwave? TV's, etc.? Any info would be helpful. Also, how are the miles right now?
Thanks.
