Well here's my situation, I will be finishing my class in a few days and have 2 pre-hires right now. They are McElroy out of Cuba Alabama, and Boyd Bros. out of Alabama as well. I've talked to the rec. at both companies and they both sound good to me. Well what im tryin to find out is if there is anyone out there who has worked, heard, or knows anything positive or negative about any of these two companies please let me know. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Im leaning more torwards Boyd just because of there Health benefits, but McElroy might have the same set up, this is why im having such a difficult time deciding on which company to choose at this time. If you were in my situation, out of these two company's which one would you go with and why.

    Again, thanks and God Bless!

Well I started a McElroy 5 years ago. If you follow their rules and do what they ask it is not bad. Oh and they don't ask anything out of the ordinary. I liked them it can get slow in the winter. I also helps to live in a running lane. One week I was home every night, just kept going through the house. You will be home every weekend. I have some friends that still work there. One thought about going to boyd at one point after working at McElroy and left in there in the first week. He has left McElroy 2 times and keeps going back. But Like I said you follow the rules and they don't jerk you around. Someeles posted their experience at McElroy on here nothing but good things.

I haven't worked at either. I've never driven flatbeds even. I have, however, spent a lot of time on various boards such as this one and heard good things about both companies.

How does one company compare to the other in regards to:

    Pay,
    Layover pay,
Orientation pay (although that should be bottom of the list since it's a done time deal),
    Average miles/week
    # of terminals (the more the better, IMHO)
The amount of time they expect you to stay out,
Fuel network (is it open or do they tell you where to fuel),
Opportunities for things like oversize loads, etc.,
    Forced dispatch?,
    Sleeper size,
Get a good feel for their training program (onboard and securement),

Etc. There's pleanty more but those are some of the main ones.

I currently drive/train for Boyd. I can say that this is my third time with this company. I left twice due to personal reasons. I enjoy this company. Like the other post up there said, do what they ask, be safe, n take care of equipment n u can surely make money. Can't say anything bad bout either one. I know a few drivers that have run for mcelroy. Honestly its gonna b what u feel better bout. I know at Boyd its a total of six weeks training.1st week on Birmingham, 4 weeks on the road, than one week of Securement n driving test back in Birmingham. I live in South Carolina n I'm home every weekend when I'm not trainin. Out twelve days when I have student with me. Health benefits here r great. I pay just under 100 a week for health, dental, n vision for my family. N I'm a smoker which adds a lil to premiums. Any other questions feel free to ask. Will b glad to answer best I can. Good luck with school m God Bless.

Boyd has nicer trucks. I have loaded with drivers from both companies in the past. Both great companies.

I just spoke to her this afternoon, and im set up for orientation on the 21st of this month, they finally accepted my application and finished my background check. It sucks at the same time because I have to quit my present job and this isn't a guaranty job until I finish the full orientation, OTR training, and recieve my own truck. So I'm very blessed and nervous at the same time lol!
