From seeing Boyd Bros website.....they are based out of clayton, alabama. they have terminals in birmingham, alabama.
But if you look at their hiring area map.....they dont hire out of alabama?
This doesnt make any sense.

This is a good company n can provide a good future, if u r willing to work for it. Flatbedding is a way of life out here. Pray all goes well for ya. Any questions or concerns just shoot. Have a Blessed day.

They do hire in Alabama. They just don't advertise it. We have a lot of drivers that live in the Bham area. And quite a few that live close to the Clayton term.

On their website they state that new driver's start at 40 cents a mile, how true is this?

Welcome to the world of flat-decking, Dizzles!!
It is hard work, you are out of the truck in all weathers, the tarps are heavy and when frozen are a real b#### to get tied down nice and tight. Once you get some experience under your belt, you'll be able to just look at your load on the ground and know exactly how you'll tarp it and secure it to the deck. Just remember, you'll never lose a load because you put too many chains or straps on it

One of the best things about running flatdeck is that the drivers tend to stick together, and help each other out with tarps, straps etc. Never be afraid to ask another driver's opinion on your load, or why he is chaining/strapping in a different way than you would. You'll learn something new everyday - I know I do, and I've been at it over 30yrs.
Good luck!! -
Thank you sir, yea im pretty excited. I've heard before that all the skateboarders stick together which is pretty cool. Hard work is what im use to, love a good workout when ever I can squeeze in the time. So I think Boyd is gonna work out great for me!

Thanks, I consider myself a great student driver. All the instructors told me I was a great driver so I shouldnt have a problem with the driving part, we'll just see how good I am man handling that wet or frozen tarp lol. I will def put up a thread on my experience with Boyd while im gettin some rest in the hotel room!

Do they still decorate the heck out of downtown Rock Hill? I remember years ago driving through downtown during Christmas time and thinking "what a nice job these people do with the decorations".

Tell Boyd to send their sales folks down to Florida to get some freight so that y'all can hire Florida drivers.
-
Oh, they make a big deal of it too. Close a street down to make a ice rink n snow ball field round Christmas n major parade in spring to celebrate Come See Me Festival. Which is like three weeks long. Why's part of Tampa u live in? Lived down there myself while back. Use to work at Round-Up on Tampa Rd. Boyd did hire quite a few drivers from there when Arrow shut down. Should call n ask, see what they have to say.
