I understand fully. Business is business. I personally wouldn't O/O at those rates, either, but somehow the small contingent they have are perfectly happy, and I haven't figured out why yet.

We don't tolerate BS. If you are out there getting customer complaints, parking tickets, phone calls to the front office about general #######ery, you're going to find yourself with a bus ticket home. We expect our drivers to be consummate professionals, not "super truckers in fingerless gloves." That's one of the reasons for the hands-off dispatch methodology. As I said before, drivers are only disturbed when necessary. No 3 am calls wondering if you're going to deliver on time. No constant harassment from dispatch about recapturing hours. Nothing. Expect to hear from them once every day about your next load, and they expect the driver to contact them if there are any issues along the way, because they aren't calling you to ask if you picked up on time, etc.

You are in a tough market pal .
The days of El cheapo drivers and truck owners are over .
As the driver pool ages nobody is interested in this biz anymore...my best friend works for kemps dairy in Minneapolis as a driver and been there 25 years ...they can't find drivers at 28 bucks an hour with full union Benny's that will show up for work .
Heard today Morehouse is coming out with another round of raises to the company drivers that should put them in the 62cpm range which probably isn't enough.
Who knows where this will end but it certainly is interesting!

Unfortunately we do. Not downtown, or anything like that, but the suburbs.
