I personally would like to encourage you to take the McLane's job. Someone has to and it sure isn't going to be me.

Used to see a McLane truck everyday when I worked with Wal-mart before I started driving. Deliveried all our sundry stuff(candy, tobacco, magazines, batteries etc.) They'd come in and throw off their totes and be gone in all of 20 mins or less. They were a lot happier and more pleasant than the CR England drivers we got. Busy though, always busy.

I dont drive for Mclane but I hate when I deliver to them. They always have really late appointment times like at 2 - 3 AM, and it is first come first serve so everyone lines up at the front gate and waits for someone to come on the intercom or telephone to ask for the PO number. Then you get a door and have to walk about a mile to the receiver office and stand in line in a freezer. Oh and since they take all drivers in at the same time there are some idiots who cannot backup to save their life so they hold up a huge line of trucks trying to get to their door.

I've been with Mclane foodservice division for over two years. I like what I do. Everybody has there own pace. It's a matter how fast you want to get done because for the most part it's key drops, meaning that we have the key to go in the stores and deliver their products. Love it, don't have to deal with nobody. Yeah you go up and down a ramp, so what! I see it as a workout. There are guys here that are in their fifties. And if they feel that they can't lump these cases anymore there are backhaul routes and they can work in the yard moving trailers. There are 1 day routes here that you can make over 5 Benjamins yeah you working close to your 14 hours and yeah you running and yes sweating but I rather do that than constantly looking back at a dock for the green light. And there's nothing wrong with that just a personal preference. If you scared to physically do some labor just do yourself a favor and need not apply.
