It depends on the dc, the hebron ky will hire you with one yr experience and I have heard of others that will hire too with 1 yr experience, guys drop like flies especially Otr guys that try foodservice other guys that have done beer before says that it's much easier work as far as unloading beer goes compared to food products I know three guys from beer and they are still there one guy six months before I worked there and the others 3 months after, I have worked there for 1 1/2 yr I know not too long but others have quit way faster , so yeah go for it more money and those guys seem pretty happy

Well, Interviewed with McLane. Received a letter about a week later, they chose another candidate. I figured with 3 years OTR and 0 points on my record I would be desirable. IDK.

Ya, I understand that most OTR guys would quit soon. I'm not that guy tho, I was just hoping they would see that. No biggie, just keep looking. There is always MBM. They are always hiring.

Mclane is not a bad company to work for...but just starting out demands a lot of hrs!!! I work out of the Fredericksburg VA dc. Which from what i understand is the best paying location of the 21 they have nation wide. Ffredericksburg is the only location that pays drivers by the hour. The extra board is by far the worst thing you will have to deal with at McLane. But than again they are not the only company that uses the extra board system. Now even though the extra board sucks big time...no schedule...no set route...team running with jerk drivers...and all that good stuff...you are definitely going to make a ton of money! During the summer months I'm averaging $1800...PER. WEEK! So even though you are never home and your body is just flat out exhausted, your still making really good money and if ya hang in there, have a really good job. If anyone has any questions about the company feel free to ask. I think I have a pretty good feel for what is going on there at this point.

Mc lane requires 2 years experience, I just completed 1 year of tractor trailer experience with a beer company, can I apply or I will be wasting my time??? Thanks guys.... I also met a guy from sysco and told me he was happy with them making good money and to go ahead and apply with sysco, so I might just do that. I just wanna get into a good food service company and make a good living doing it. I'm from the Los Angeles area.

Just started with this company in Denver (Aurora), bunch of paperwork the first 2 days, worked with the guys in the warehouse picking pallets for the trucks going out for a few hours this morning and tomorrow I'll be heading out on the road with another driver to learn the ropes ^.^
Milkman719 Thanks this.
