The thing is, the ones that don't quit during the first couple months stay there for a very long time, because the money is so good.
He might be telling that to everybody, I remember hearing a similar story when my guy went for his road test. Did he try to trick you for the pre-trip? Loosening caps and that kind of stuff to see if you noticed? I thought that was great.
You're young and fit, come'on, you can do it!!!
Please keep us posted, we're here rooting for you.

10/4 on that, thanks for the heads up drivers. Should be starting this coming Monday IF I am not selected for jury duty.
-
How's it going so far?
-
Wish I can tell you, I've got jury duty from Monday through Wednesday. I tried getting out of it but instead I got put on a case lol
-
Man that sucks! Maybe next wk then

Case is done, I start training tomorrow at 8 am. Classroom setting is what I was told so I'm sure it will be the usual cheesy sexual harassment videos and filling out new hire forms, Yea it does suck, I've missed out on two days of work this week.

Update! Completed orientation Wednesday and finished my first route last night...err this morning. I got there at 5:45 PM and did not get home until 7:45 AM. I knew coming in it was lots of work but I underestimated how overwhelming it can be. Opening the trailer to see floor to ceiling boxes of product didn't scare me away, I've done my share of hard work, it was just lets say a humbling experience. My trainer was all about being quick quick quick and I did my best keeping up. 7/11's wants their product to be placed a certain way and I found myself at times getting the labels confused. Bringing down 10 cases of water was the hardest thing for me, I must've dropped them about 8 times lol customers and cashiers would laugh at me as they would fall off the hand truck, I didn't let that bother me (I'm working here!). I only drove for 30 minutes to cover my trainers "sleeper berth" time. After about 15+ stops you get back to the terminal and have to unload the empty totes (plastic boxes) that you pick up from the stores, you then stack them where they need to go, clean out your trailer and take the truck to the fuel island and then unhook, go to the Transportation office and turn in your scanner and paperwork. It was 30 degrees out and I was so hot I was just outside with a T shirt on, in short its not for me. I can admit without any shame that its a ton of work and some people like it but I do not, I rather drive and bump a dock then fingerprint freight and bring them down a ramp into a store. It's a side of trucking that pays very well and I am glad that I got to experience it and thankful for the opportunity, I am writing this with about 4 hours until I have to go back tonight for the same time. On the fence, lets see what I decide.
Space Man Spiff Thanks this.
