I spent 7 years in the delivery business, I ran into a lot of McLane people (usually in my way) they never seemed like they had time to stop and chat where most of the other drivers would. but they haulled big green plastic containers in that looked like the large tupperware bins you can buy at Target. They stack about 5 on a cart and run down a ramp and drop it in the isle of C-stores. It's not easy work but I don't think its really that hard, the first two weeks will kill you but after that you will be fine. And like someone previously said, you will be doing a lot of tricky maneuvering with the truck to get it into parking lots, or just blocking streets, eventually you develop a who cares idea about where you park as you wont be there long enough for anyone to really care. I always enjoyed pulling up somewhere and parking with the hazards on, getting out and walking to the back of the truck with my cart only to see the 4 wheeler that was behind me when I stopped sitting there. "gee I wonder when this light is gonna change"
as far as the Woman thing goes, it's definately a man run world. I did see a woman one time working for another beer company but that was it, she was pretty well built though, probably could play football.
My boss got the bright idea to hire some workers from a temp company one day for a busy week. One of the people that showed up was a 350+ lb black lady so naturally she got stuck with the pissey alcoholic 90lb white dude. He told her she could wait in the truck all day. I wish I had a picture of that, I bet he drank 2 30pks of Hamms that night instead of his normal 1.
