if ever i felt for any trucker, it will not happen again. if i have a chance to help one of you in the future... roflmao! how could anyone respect someone who obviously perceives him/herself as a professional doormat?
so go ahead - twist what i said and ignore my intent. oh, and don't spare the infantile jibes, like "went home to mommy" it has not occurred to you that your choices describe you, and me most certainly not. nor will it - in this life, at least.

Just wondering if the thought ever occured to you to hook up to the trailer & pull it to a area of your choice in the yard where you think it would be clean enough to put on your coveralls, and put down a piece of cardboard or plastic and go under your trailer and do a proper "safe" & "clean" Pre Trip Inspection?
Up here in Canada where the ground gets very wet & we have very dirty dirt & slush & snow & mud and and and and....this is how most of us up here check our trailer brakes when the ground requires it.
Not all of our truck yards are paved (very few) and a shortage of palm trees also.

Never claimed to be a super trucker. Just wanted a clarification to make sure I understood what you were speaking of. I myself have never heard the term, and as any driver that uses the parking lot as his own personal bathroom doesn't usually pee on the brakes, I failed to make the connection.
You don't have to "crawl around" to do a PTI. Crouching under the trailer to visually inspect the components is sufficient. So go on...deflect blame, abandon equipment, catch the next grey dog. I may not be a "super trucker", but at least I have a job in the industry.Injun Thanks this. -
I wouldn't be looking for a last check from your former employer. Bet you they charge you more than you are owed to get the abandoned truck back. And if they charge you more than they owe you, you can expect a hit on your credit report. Of course you considered this before you walked off in a huff. Of course not. That's because you don't think before acting. You just run off half ####ed. Oh, and forget about unemployment. Fired for cause. Good luck out there cause you sure need it.

First off, no one can FORCE you to do anything because it's your butt on the line out there. If you thought it was unsafe (and the post suggested you thought so), you should have immediately addressed the issue. Stand up to these dispatchers and don't take their crap.
And as for being "conned about the weight"? Sir, has every dispatcher told you the truth about everything, or are you using your interpretation of the truth when it's most convenient for you? And just think, back to the first paragraph, IF you would have had the trailer repaired before picking up the Coca-Cola load, you probably wouldn't be out of a job right now with an abandonment on your DAC. You say you admit when your wrong. Admit to this, and maybe, some of us will have a bit more respect for you.Last edited: Jun 20, 2011

I should clarify, I don't do this all the time, but I am prepared with the equipment when I need to.
I sometimes can just crouch & see all I need to.
But how do you guys see your pads & drums when there is a cover plate covering everything?
How do you know you brake stroke is legal with out measuring the stroke?
I don't crouch as good as I used to either.
Anyway my point was, there are ways to do it with out getting to dirty if you plan ahead & no excuse for NOT inspecting your brakes.
