Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I have visited this site quiet a few times reading the forums and finally decided to join. This is an excellent site full of great info btw! I am 32 years old and have been a diesel mechanic for 10 years. I have worked for fleets and kw and pete dealers. I live just outside of Knoxville, TN. I really enjoy turning wrenches but work has been slow for a while and its taking a toll on my back! I have always wanted to drive but have always been tied down at home. I have been going out over the road with my cousin for the last year on and off to see what its like. I absolutely love it! He's an o/o for Forward Air. He team drives with his wife and when she stays home i have been taking her seat. I have my cdl A but i am going to attend Tenn. Technology # Knoxville anyway so i can learn other things i will need. I can drive pretty good being that I have beeen around trucks half my life but am still going to school to learn more and get some experience. I would appreciate any input on this school and maybe a decent company to start with in tennessee. I understand starting out they are about all the same but i would like to get a couple yrs experience with a good safe company. Thanks all and value any comments. Cant wait to get out on the road now that I have no ties to home! Oh yeah and i am am really not picky bout home time but i do have a small boston terrier that is like my kid. he is behaved better than most kids and is very clean and sleeps alot. It will kill him if we part so i hope i can find someone after the traing process when i get solo to let me take him! Thanx and sorry for the long post! :biggrin_25514:

With your background, you should do well.Having a driver that knows the mechanical side of trucks would be a big plus.Good luck.
