I like that solution to the idle adjustment. Some of the best tools you create yourself.

American ingenuity; fitting on an old mechanical motor where the computer doesn’t do all the thinking for you

Unfortunately my fuel pump code book only covers up to 1988. I can’t find any information on that code

Try a good pump shop. The reason I mentioned keeping up with all your old parts is from others failures.
Have seen some folks end up with surging convulsion won't idle rolls like a 2 stroke and other problems. They never could correct the problems they created and had to have the pump rebuilt.
If you go above more than 250 RPM extra I would keep the button the same as pup said. Some of those engines in industrial units ran up around 2400 RPM. The engine can take it but it is a waste without proper timing. Probably want a piro.

Agree. Pretty much flying blind on a mechanical without pyro, boost, water and oil temp. Thx.

The rpm is as simple as a spring change, if you are wanting an actual performance bump you should pull the pump and send it to a respectable shop.

Ideally if wanting to raise HP the reliable way to do it is to have injector flow increased rather than just raising rail pressure.

The timing on a 430 makes it so that the engine will run high exhaust temps if used above 1700rpm, these were timed the way they were to lower the working rpm range to try and bring them in line with mechanical cats of the time.

Your current timing would be more ideal for working at higher rpm than the timing of the 430hp engine.

If wanting to get injector and pump work done Premco out of Lampasas, TX builds some of the highest quality injectors around.

That's exactly where I was going to mention he call. Premco. That's who I'm thinking of calling soon. I've got a 350hp N14 1380CPL have only changed the button to a #10 but need to do the proper way w Injectors/Built Pump HT60 Turbo and the add on of PYRO turbo and oil temp gauges.
