    CYA.

Not saying yours isn't legit, it's just that some companies "Double Tap It" just in case, insurance wise.

Not every company does another physical. They accept your current card if there's a few months left on it.

    Freymiller
    TransAm
    Magnum Ltd.
    J&R Schugel
    Lesssors Inc.

My company runs their own program and added a few more tests on your health than what's required. It's not a problem and it fits with keeping up with aging and a standard maintenance program. They also do it once a year. It's fine by all of us because they pay for every minute we spend doing the testing.

Here is where the fmcsa needs to get with it and add to the regulations that the driver has the freedom to go where they want for their dot, plus if they get hired with a dot that isn't going to expire in say 3 months, the company has to take it. This idea that companies can require more than the fmcsa should stop and there is no reason for any company not to accept one made by a registered provider with their name attached to it.

I assume no matter what the new med card will invalidate the old one?

Say billy big rigger had a 1 year but went to a company, had another physical and they give him a 2 month card

Because there are drivers out there that would get a friend who was a doctor or go pay some fly by night doctor to give them a medical card when they had no business having one. The companies have to protect themselves.

That's exactly the reason for the new rules.

Also, medical cards can easily be forged as well and don't think there aren't many forged medical cards out there being presented at inspections and to small carriers who don't have the financial resources or the desire to do their own.

... which is why we are seeing these (valid ones) required to renew your CDL. This only started a few years ago, so expect carriers to continue to be leery of medical cards for another year or two.
