    Your choice.
No need to apologize to me, TN ---
    I ain't offended. :biggrin_25512:
    Are you. :smt102
    How 'bout you, Big D?
Are you tellin' us that you're "wrong"?
I'm thinkin' you could, in fact, be correct.
All I was doin' was runnin' a thought up the flag-pole,
to see what kind of salutes :salute: it received.

I hear doctors, especially those responding to disasters (think 911) and/or medics during wars, and family members ---
are sometimes called upon to make such decisions.
And I'M a family member who had to make such a decision FOR my mother.
It sure wasn't an easy decision, ---
But actually, the decision was made by her years before that.
She didn't want to be hooked up to tubes with needles stickin' in her arms, --- her choice.
Can you imagine pancreatic surgery (cancer) on an 80+ year-old woman with Alzheimer's?
Chance of a (very painful and long) recovery was estimated to be about 5% ---
But the surgeon STILL wanted to cut her open.
    Is that compassion?
Or compensation, for the doctor's wallet?
It was I who was required to make the decision to tell the surgeon "NO"
    thanx.
.Why do you think that makes you an "idiot"?

We're sharing and exchanging thoughts and opinion here.
    What's right?
    What's wrong?
    Who knows, for sure? :smt102

I see no reason for ANYone to be, or feel, offended. :biggrin_25512:

Our area ems doctors changed our protocols on heart attacks. If it was unwitnessed, we had to determine downtime and consider the issue and make a decision. We were allowed to call medical control to have them make the decision as well.

If the family decided to push the issue, we were to load and go and call the hospital for their input.

At no time would there be joking or comments on the scene like these. However, people must realize that the British have different sense of humor than we do. It does not mean they did not do their best. Many of the patients that I had as full arrest took as much as 35 minutes to get to the hospital.

I know that comments may have been made and do not condone them. However, I do not know the protocols for their ems area.

Nana, I was not offended by your post, and I sincerely hope you were not offended by mine. As Shakey pointed out, we are exchanging ideas here.

IMHO, very little in life is totally black and white. I believe having an exchange of ideas is a healthy way to both learn and teach. And heaven knows, I've got a lot to learn!
