Branfon said the economy is the best it’s ever been, so it must be true.

 

Yet most of them are looking to expand through acquisition.

Everybody kept running rates cheaper and cheaper to now even mega carriers are running below cost to operate.

The bigger the fleet the lower the overhead cost to run a truck. And when the economy bounces back, the bigger fish rule the pond
And expanding into ltl was a good move for Knight, it is an expandind market and good buffer for the current market slump.

 

Don't disagree, but the headlines make it seem like the economy is a total dumpster fire when in fact, it's doing pretty well on most traditional measures. The only real problem is the economy isn't set up to benefit the middle and working class anymore.

 

Yes, i agree, but i also think that the middle class has shot itself in the foot by living to the most of their means, as opposed to 50 years ago when a single earner would raise a family in a 1200 sq ft house and have one car.....

Yellow did one thing, only one thing. Knight does Dry,Refrigerated, containers, and ltl. They can roll with the punches better that a carrier that does mainly one type of trucking.
Heck it wouldn't surprise me if Kevin Knight had a fleet of Golfcarts in Sun City
