I saw that article too. Swift wanted to put more emphasis on the LTL side. They seem to be thinking putting all their energy in that sector of trucking will minimize their losses.

That's why I don't know why folks think the economy is good. The working and middle class makes up #### near the entire country lol. Most, if not all, are in some kind of debt. I don't know how people can think the economy is good when everyone is in the red.Siinman and NorthEastTrucker Thank this.

It didn't cost as much to live back then either. A person could be a minimalist and still struggle. It costs too much to do everything now. Housing and driving costs are crazy high, amd paychecks haven't really kept up with costs. Instead everyone swipes the credit card. 40 hr weekly pay isn't any longer enough to live on, particularly if you have a family.NorthEastTrucker and cuzzin it Thank this.

The ltl and dedicated final mile is where growth potential is and has been since 2016. Only no TL carrier has gotten in right. JB ended up giving away most of its otr freight and is basically an intermodal and dedicated company. Schneider pooped EVERYWHERE with its final mile foray. But try, try, again - someone's going to get it right and it will pay off bigely.
There is a difference between "the economy is bad" and "the economy is set up wrong". The first involves factors that are more easily influenced through policy changes- tax rates, trade rules, legal enforcement/regulation, government spending, etc.
The second deals with the underlying fundamentals and would require wholesale paradigm change. There is no real will for that to happen. By every traditional measure, the economy is robust, we're just starting to see some of the long term impacts of decisions made in the 1970s. -
5 kids and a stay at home wife. We don’t have a problem with making ends meet. Just got a sharpen a pencil a little bit and know what’s important life and what’s not. We have zero credit card debt. I use that card as much as I can to get the cash back and pay it off every week and therefore never pay interest. Now I do live in a Midwest and I know that’s not a fancy place like California Hawaii or some Northeast place so that probably has something to do with it, but then again, I decided to move here .

Because everyone has a carefully chosen chart that shows how the economy is absolutely bustling in spite of what you see in front of your eyes. I think Orwell warned us about something to this effect.bryan21384, Short Fuse EOD and dirthaller Thank this.
