And I am happy FOR you. I said that before, and you jumped down my throat. Calm down.

    Like I said.....give it time.

Driver....I am defending your right to be happy, and enjoy the job the way YOU prefer to run. I am also pointing out things that future readers may be interested in knowing.
To ME, driving 6 hours a day when I can LEGALLY drive 11 hours a day isn't gonna cut it. I don't care if I'm making .22cpm or .42cpm I don't want to be sitting in some stupid truck stop for the majority of the 2 to 3 weeks that any company requires me to stay out.
I'm saying for ME if you are not going to utilize MY time any better than that, then get ME home on the weekends, and I can live with the crappy 2,200 miles a week. But there's got to be some conformise.....the company can't have ALL MY time, and do nothing with it.

I'm sorry that you still don't understand how things work after this entire thread and 19 years. Maybe one day you'll figure it out.

At 2000 miles a week, I make the same as a van driver at .35 running 3k per week. Won't see me complain about that.

i generally get around 2500 miles a week with 2-3 tarps. Almost 1200 gross for a 2500 mile week.

O.k.....I get that. But what I'm trying to tell these other guys (whom either don't know how to read....don't comprehend....or just plain don't get it....or just feel like arguing); at 2,800 to 3,000 miles a week....you would make MUCH, MUCH more, and you wouldn't be sitting bored ****less at a truck stop for the better part of your day.
I completely understand the "work smarter, not harder" philosophy. I completely understand the "less miles for more money" philosophy. I get all that! But what I'm saying, is why not stay busy while you're out there?

That is just my opinion. If I can legally drive for 11 hours....I wanna do it, because I don't want to sit around all darn day.
And if a company is going to dictate how long I am required to "stay out" before home time....they better keep me busy during that time span....because I can sit at home for free much better than I can sit at a truck stop twittleing my thumbs for the same money or lack there-of.

Flatbeders typically don't get as many miles due to all the extra work they do.

You still don't get it. Man, if you want to DRIVE for 11 hours, nobody is telling you that you can't. Go sign on with JB Hunt or Crete or Werner or any other drop-and-hook, hit-the-dock outfit. Don't even give flatbed trucking a second thought. There WILL be days where you spend more time unloading and loading than you do driving. You will work. You will check to see how many hours you get back from your 70 tomorrow because you will work your 70. But if you're allergic to getting out of the truck to work, just stick to vans. At what Melton pays me, I would LOVE to drive for 11 hours every day. Well, I did today, and I will tomorrow. But I don't think you realize that we actually have to do work, throw straps and chains, tarp loads and get out of the truck every 150 miles to make sure everything is still there. Unless you can untarp and unsecure a load, drive down the road, secure and tarp a load in under 2 combined hours, you won't see very many 11 hour days and that's just the way it works. I don't have the time or the crayons to break it down any further for you. You either get it or you don't.

Here's my thing. Melton has treated me great and let's say I tarp 10 loads a month. That's 400 bucks extra in my Check, detention and all that add up. Met guys who got 350 for fuel bonus 3 months in a row and had proof to back it up. Right there it all makes up for lack of miles, now unless you have done it shut up and go back to getting fat and never leaving your truck. I enjoy the physical labor and getting to clients happy to see me and not like distribution centers that you are a dime a dozen.

LOL!!!! Dude....listen; not only have I done that---I did it before you were even in Junior High. Seem's you miss the point of every freaking thing I say. So I am done arguing with you. You HAVE to be the most ridiculous person I have ever had the displeasure of conversing with on this site.
Another "LOL!!!" You think those guys are 'driving' for 11 hours? Guess again genius...you got a LOT to learn. Those companies suck up YOUR clock as bad as Melton does (Were did you sit over the weekend? Home? NOT!).
EXACTALLY!!!! But you don't do you? And "they" know that......that is why you don't. God forbid they (Melton) give you enough work to keep you busy, and out of the truck stops.
I can. I have. And I drove 11 hours. It is more than possible to do 11 hours driving, 15 minutes fueling, 15 minutes pre-trip, and all the load securement/tarping/load checks you want in a 14 hour clock. If you can't....hang it up, and go get yourself some freaking pan cakes.

You've never done flatbed and this is the proof. You're done here. Take your blatant lies somewhere else. I wasn't sure until this post whether you were genuinely clueless or purposefully trolling, but it's pretty obvious to me and anyone else reading this thread now. Thanks for making yourself easily identifiable.
