    Congrats on your promotion. Will the extra .05cpm add up to what you're making on night shift???

    Actually I was on first shift before and on 2nds you get a lot less vendor p/u which is what brings down my mileage average every week. A lot less live unloads and waiting around a customers lot means more money in my pocket right off the bat.

    So it finally happened last week. I moved to seconds and have a regular truck that I drive. So now I am making .31 cpm plus my stop pay. They switched my schedule around though so now I work Mon-Fri one week, then Sun-Wed with Thur off then work Fri. It's a little messed up but the best part is making .43 cpm on every other Sunday.

    So if you see me around the DC or up and down I94 give me a hollar on the CB. My truck number is 8178, a diesel(for now). I start from 1-3 p.m. and get done at 1-3 a.m. and always roll with my cb on.

    On a somewhat more interesting note, we got a Hybrid truck on Friday. Its a reman Columbia with a 60 series that is diesel and CNG. I am really interested in how it works and have not been told much about it yet. It has a 100g diesel tank on the passenger side and a 45 gallon CNG tank on the drivers side. I think we are just testing it out but, I think that now we have been through 2 generations of CNGs they are not too happy with how they are performing.

    And on a sad note they are trying out Drive Cams in about half the trucks... I guess we will see how it goes. I have not really had any bad experience so I am keeping an open mind for now.

    Unless you drive like an idiot or they have it set up to where its real sensitive. You won't have a problem with the drive cam. I've had one in my truck over 2 months and the thing has only went off once on a snowy night for no reason, and never heard anything from safety about it.

    See ours are real sensitive and they have even admitted it and they go off all the time. The office staff have been getting a lot of complaints about it.

    I wouldn't doubt it, but consider how much you'll be making for that 'rolling dock worker' gig as opposed to Menards or any OTR company. It's well worth it, considering benefits and pay-per-hour.

    I will give Menards props for giving young folks a chance, but as far as pay goes, they really are giving it to you up the fart pipe. As soon as you're getting close to 23, throw your app in at FedEx. Trust this crotchety old fart. :yes2557:

    Yeah I guess if I want to starve all winter long. My dad went through 2 winters of it before he quit. Eau Claire is an in line terminal so it really dries up during the winter months.

    Started my day at 1:20 p.m. I did a D&H at both the Maple Grove and Coon Rapids stores got back and did an Eau Claire West key drop. 417 miles X .43 = 179.31 plus $35 in stop pay. Logged off the computer at 11:45 p.m. Pretty easy day. Although I will say the people that designed that Coon Rapids store really could give a rats ### less about truckers.

    HTH;
    The most important thing about work is: 1) do you enjoy it (you are home every day), 2) are you making enough money to pay all your bills, 3) benefits-do you get medical, dental, vision, 401K, profit sharing etc, are they affordable. If you are happy and like where you work change is not always better. The "LTL" drivers do make bank but most start out casual and may not work 5 days. LTL freight also slow down in the winter. Remember the grass is not always greener. Think about hauling fuel, most are home every day and make pretty good money as well.
    Take care, keep the black side down and rolling!!

    Came up behind a Menards trailer last Friday on I-94 in Woodbury, thought it might be you, kind of the right time of day, 5:30pm, but it ended up being pulled by a contractor, purple Cascadia sleeper. I've been seeing those Pete 386 CNG's too...haven't been able to snap a photo yet though.
