Back when I had to make that choice between the two what pushed me towards LS and away from Mercer was all the bad mouthing of LS that the Mercer recruiter was doing. Just flat out turned me off from Mercer.

I will let you know the next time I'm in texas, then you can meet what would be the only person that is happy with Mercer.

Or you just havent been around Mercer O/O's outside Texas
    .
Hey Brick, You must have talked to a diffrent person than I did. I asked the same ? you did and the answer I got was, You should check out everyone you want to and then make an educated decision.
The man from L/S told me that I should not call anyone else. That did not turn me off of L/S, I liked Mercer better.

Had it been as simple as you stated I wouldn't have been turned off. I understand job loyalty. But the Mercer recruiter I talked to was just out and out bad mouthing LS. I don't remember his name, this was in mid 05 when I was researching comps to lease to.

Now days I might check out Warren trans out of IA. The biggest thing that would turn me off of them would be if they have mandatory QC.

I am generaly happy w/ Mercer. (I've been here going on 4 years). I tried LS and submitted a application.. About 2 hours later I got a phone call from their "qualification center" (a subcontracted element of LS's recruiting dept.) They said I was not qualified.. I asked "why"? Their responce was "I can't tell you". I went round and round w/ them.. Ya know I can't fix somthing if I don't know what's broke I told them...

So I got to thinking.. What in the heck could they have done in 2 hrs.. Pull my DAC? Okay I did find a glitch there and fixed it... I called back to LS.. They wouldn't tell me if that was the problem or not.. BUT to feel free to re-apply in a year!!

Now THAT pissed me off... Off to Mercer I went.. they laughed about the "problem" with the DAC (I had legal documentation from the state court where this "glitch" happened..) LS didn't even care that I had "fixed the problem, or even had proof to back up my claim.."!!!

SInce being here # Mercer I have run into a LOT of ex LS drivers, I have a cousin and a friend lease on w/ them.. SO I know a little bit about them.. The politics, how the good loads never even make it to the load board, agents having their own fleet of trucks (that they load w/ the best freight), the arss kissing and stuff that gets done to the agents to try and get on their good side.. I don't have any of that to deal with here..

I can't belive you've never met anyone who was happy # Mercer... I am not going any where. If I do I will be hanging up my "spurs" permanently and sell my whole truck, and trailer, then either retire or do somthing different..

I also know for a fact about LS brokers with their own fleet of trucks. Their brokers are also catching a lot of grief if they load any non leased trucks.

I have a buddy who changed from DD RGN stretch to SD a few months ago. He wanted out of the payment. Now he says it was a mistake. What do you think about the change you made from SD to DD?

Mark the fleet of trucks is not in the agents name.

The trucks leased cannot be in the same name as the agent. Bob can own 1 or 100 trucks and his wife Sally own an agency but both names cannot be on either one at the same time.
That sort of thing does go on, I do know that. Husband has trucks in his name, wife's name is on the agency.

You hear a lot of BS like that from disgruntled LS drivers, but they can't prove it. I suspect you don't have proof either.
Call LS directly and ask them.

Now it is true that a lot of the good freight doesn't hit the board. Its not required to. Agents have their group of good buddies that they will call first and offer them the good loads.
There are also agents that will give you a good load if they don't know you..... for a kick back. I've heard of one in SLC and one in Laredo that are like that.
