anybody runs these curtain side trailers and can respond from the experience? THANK YOU.
Mercer Transportation left hundreds of us drivers stranded.

Two of my girlfriends and their husbands pull vans and one of them is wanting to go to flats...more freight in the flats.....
-
i wouldnt mind flats--but not sure if my body would enjoy it--mind you when i did it before it was mainly the junkiest scrappiest loads you could imagine always an enjoyment to strap /chain down
-
let's not forget tarpin' in the wind! lol
don't get much better than that....we are soooo off topic but its still a better direction
-
does mercer provide directions? you guys use gps - are they, gps, any good - what kind?
-
agents sometimes have directions sometimes I call where I am going I use satellite maps and I do not have a GPS this is when we are a few miles out as for the majority of the trip we use an old fashioned atlas and figure the best routs..I do have streets and trips and sometimes look at the shortest vs quickest routes

I currently have an iphone - through verizon, and downloaded the copilot truck8, it uses your current location and on you go. I was wondering if anyone have tried garming trucking gps, there are currently 2 on the markt with one more coming out in a month or so.

There is one comment you posted here that is wrong. You stated that Mercer will only hire trucks of a certain year. This is incorrect. They state that to keep people who has old trucks which are not kept up from wasting their time trying to lease on. I went to work for them a year ago with a 1994 W900L. They will hire an old truck. BUT. It has to look good and they are tough on their inspection of your equipment.
I do agree with some of the others. But will say this. whoever you have as a load cordinator will make or break you. When I first hired on to them I had a cordinator who seemed not to look for my next load until I was empty. Hence....I did a lot of sitting waiting on my next load. After I was assigned a new cordinator, I was pulling one load and had two in the pipeline at all times. With this company, you need to know their best freight areas and try to stay in these traffic lanes. Once you learn this you will stay busy and pull good paying freight. When going to California, expect to wait for a load. And when you get it expect it to be cheap. Same with going into Texas and Florida. There are two types of trucke leaving Florida, Empty trucks and trucks pulling cheap freight. I would usually go there when I needed a break.....LOL.
I have left Mercer about 6 months ago. Was not because of being treated badly. I needed to be home more often with an aging father. I left Mercer on good standing and can easily go back there any time. I was told if I decided to come back within one year, I could retain my old unit number and not have to go thru the training classes again.
Personally.......I think if I was to run 48 states again, I will go back to Mercer.
I dont know what happened to you 3 years ago, but holding a grudge that long is not good for you. Dont ya think its time to let it go?
Best of luck to you. -

They are still knocking off more money from drivers then they ought to.
Take Oakley for example, even with their trailer, you make more money.
