I think it depends on where you live......I live in cent MO....no man's land for flatbeds and what loads we have here are cheep so we try to go by on our way to somewhere...but to come home empty means that we will be bouncing 200+ miles to get a load.....I always thought east coast is a better shot...but that' my perspective....right now loads are so scarece it may be hard for anyone no matter where you live...just getting a load anymore can make me happier than a box of chocolates....:yes2557:

New to forum:biggrin_255:, husband has worked for Mercer for years. I'll leave that at that, anyone know what is up with texas? The loads are rolling in, all other companies are hauling out but mercer is sitting still. What gives? He's been trapped for 6 days, dead heading out of Dallas, grrrr, again and heading for houston. Or lousiville to leave his flatbed, not sure which at the moment, he's not a happy camper at the moment. B.

i work for ACE Transportation out of TX,but i talked to Mercer drivers all the time.they say that all the areas are about the same as far as loads.my co. had an o/o go over to Mercer and he lives in NC,but they still wanted him to stay out 3wks before he could come home.he got stuck up in NJ for 3dys and he called them and told them he would send his tags in.

No one pulling a flat is very happy now. It is being hit the hardest by this economy mess. When it picks up, and that may be some years, flats will once again be the best money out there. If he is un happy tell him to get a reefer and go for it. That is about the only area that will continue fairly strong because we all have to eat. Saw three LandStar guys today in TX. All pulling boxes. But all had headache racks. One guy still had all his chains, tarps, and 4 by s on board. Why I have no idea. No sense hauling all that weight if you don't use it.

Ace Doran, and I should say that there is still freight moving, it's just that 90% of it ain't worth hauling and even in the good times Texas doesn't have much that pays good enough to bother with

    dshaw1965 Thanks this.
