oNE OF MY FEARS WHEN I STARTED DRIVING WAS MERGING INTO A BUSY LANE OF TRAFFIC// NOT SO MUCH THE BIG TRUCKS BUT THE FOUR WHEELERS.. THEY THINK YOU MUST DRIVE FOR THEM TOO!! WHEN I MERGE I ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACTION THAT MUST GO DOWN.. WHAT ABOUT IT IS THE GUY IN THE LANES DUTY TO MOVE OVER?? (HELL NO ) ONLY OUT OF COURTESY AND IF HE CAN (NOT A MUST).. SO YOU FOUR WHEELERS LEARN TO DRIVE IM JUST KEEPING MY OWN STUFF STRAIGHT AND UPRIGHT..COMMENTS????

Comments? YEP!
1) There in no law stating the you have to merge or slow down to allow oncoming traffic to enter the interstate. It is oncoming traffics responsibility to accelerate & merge into traffic at a decent speed when safe to do so!!!
2) In real life... In my truck... I accelerate the best as I can. At the end of the acceleration ramp, I'm coming over into that right lane unless there is a big truck there... If Mr. Big truck is there, then I'll run the shoulder while continuing to accelerate until he has cleared me. Cars better move or get ran over! -
Redd, I was taught the same thing by one of my trainers in school, believe it or not. I was merging onto a 4 lane divided highway, there was a straight truck in the hammerlane and a a couple of four wheelers in the slow lane, I was at the end of my merge lane, I slowed way down until I could get over (and caught all kinds of hell for it). I still don't know if that was the best approach for a student, lol.

Define the word "merge". When you think about it, it comes down to give and take. Why risk an accident to prove you are right? I would rather give in and be on my merry way than to have to stop and do paperwork and make phone calls. I'm not saying I'm a wimp, but, a good driver will plan for any possibility and make adjustments. It's called sharing the road.

let me just ADD..... the MERGE LANE , is so you can Be at HIGHWAY SPEED when you hit the MAINLINE... not wait until you hit the MAINLINE to accelerate.....35mph on the on ramp and merging wit 70mph Traffic is suicide, accident waiting to Happen !! Those lanes are designed so you can be up to speed before you get to the MAINLINE.... oh yeah... this goes to 4wheelers that are reading this, not TRUCKS... Thank you, That is all .... Carry on
25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
To all the 4 wheelers who have encountered our truck...can't miss us it's very simply proceedure....
Blink, blink big truck coming into your lane...you figure it out.LoneCowboy, mizdageeragn, Miles_Of_Truckin and 1 other person Thank this. -
I think all 4-wheelers are blind......Every time I signal...they just can't see the signals flashing...or maybe they're just pretending to be blind......

It's a turn signal, it's NOT a request.
I'm coming, better make room.
Honestly probably 75% or more of the 4 wheelers (although this may not be true in the NE) actually see it and move, or give you a spot.
the other 15% though.......................... -
