Parking has many variables. Such as city ordinance, company policy, etc. But if you are wondering about theft and vandalism, If you can't see it and it is not on a secure lot you are rolling the dice. Question is, do you feel lucky?

People will steal anything that isnt locked down.
No truck stop even NEAR your area you could at least drop the trailer at?

Kingpin lock, glad hand lock...and some luck.

I have a local company that I offered to pay for a spot when home. They just told me to park it and not worry. Nice people!

Since you are in Indiana there must be a farm or large towing company yard near you. You might have to fork over some "remuneration", but that beats the alternative. And chances are you WILL be loaded from time to time when you stop by for a day or two. And I would also recommend the glad hand and kingpin locks that Hanadarko suggested. Put a chain, binder and lock's on your tarps also. Good luck. Welcome to the "skateboard fraternity". Also you posted before I did by seconds so it looks like you have it handled.

I hit the delete button when I posted. Erased the rest of my post. Sorry about that. Most generally you need to be parked on private property or at a business you have permission to park at. Just my expierence. Good Luck.

I had some tarp straps stolen off my truck at a truck stop. Other than that, I kept my stuff locked up (and I kept my tarp straps in the cab after that happened).
