Hi, haul fuel here in Canada , 2018 Peterbilt only 250,000 Kms on it , just went in for six month inspection, apparently they have found metal filings in front diff, what would cause this and I would assume warranty yes?

yeah probs warranty, and for the front diff it would usually be having the inter axle locked at high speeds or using it when not neccesary, ur probs looking at a rebuild for the diff or power divider

The term "filings" is a very broad term. Is it just some fine metal "fur" on the magnet? Or actual chunks of metal. "Fur" on the magnet is normal, metal chunks are not. You won't have any hope of getting a warranty rebuild if its just considered normal wear by the manufacturer's standards and definitions.
Heavyd and Roberts450 Thank this. -
It all depends on the kind and size of the metal filings. Most gear boxes and rear ends will ALWAYS have metal on the magnetic drain plugs when serviced. More so when new/first oil changes as there is lots that wears off during the brake in period. So without seeing what metal came out of the diff we wont have any clue as to whats to much metal or just normal metal.

Definitely chunks of metal they tell me

my guess would be someone locked the power divider while the tires were spinning and shelled out the power divider. i would also guess there going to call it driver abuse no warranty.

If the chunk are big as English peas problem small flakes not probably thrust washer wearing down
