I just want to say if you live in the West Palm Beach area and are interested in getting your cdl license than deffinantly consider MTTI!!!! I started in early May and am about to graduate next week. It is a great school. I have not had a problem. I signed up for the 184 hour course and I'm glad I did. I was going to do the 160 hour but the 160 course you have to do school buses as well and i'm not interested in hauling people. The trainers there are great especially sebastian!!!! He has been my go to guy and works with you till you get it. Look for him in the back southwest corner of the yard!!! Now don't get me wrong there are 1-2 guys who don't do a whole lot of interaction with you other than show you what to correctly do, but I see it this way, if you have to make them get up its cause your doing something wrong so keep em sittin!!!!!! The 184 hour course gives you about 65 hours of yard/backing training, 20 hours of shifting and several hours each of log map & book, Pre-trip inspection, coupling/uncoupling and stuff like that. Also all the DMV tests are done in house with examiners that also work at the school. The examiner Mr. Luis is also a trainer and does the log, map & book classes as well as the shifting classes!!!! Mr. Luis is also a great guy to get to know. The schools trucks are nothing to write home about but there not bad. I mean its a school so whats the use in having great trucks when your practicing. Besides newer trucks would only make the price higher for the school. Now I'm glad I went with the 184 course because trucking companies are looking for at least 120 hours (preferebly 160 to 184 hours). Now the school offers a 50 hour course but unless your going for a refresher spend the extra money and get at least the 120!!! I have watched guys every week take there backing test and fail it only to find that they only took the 50 hour course. I came into the school with no cmv background experiance and no shifting experiance and I picked up the backing in about my 25th hour and the shifting in about the 7th hour of training. I also go everyday and am convinced failure is not an option. In closing look at it this way. No school is perfect and I'm sure there are people who have gone to this school with negative results but if you live life with the idea that your glass is always half full you will have no problems with this school and will truly enjoy it. It's all in what you make it!!!
