Theyer n trouble, a 325 unit company that hires 400 drivers per year. The orientation building is non stop otr guys an gals looking for more hometime, they get it with much less pay.and otr has pay-swings as high as 55% change one week to the next. I got hazmat and tanker but it dont add up to a plug nickle if u only see 1k at 5cpm per month. Now theyer following me around with a speed snitch program and snitch investigators at customer locations. It was really good when i started but over time i can see they play favorites because the power of 2000 plus driver apps a year. I dont recommend metropolitan if you are ambitious or driven, its a laid-back semi -do nothing carrier probably trying to sell to swift, nfi etc etc.

Now a days drivers are lazy want home more than they work and expect the money. The good ole days of the real truck drivers are over, now its a steering wheel holder. The good drivers are hard to find when are the others applicants are wasting the time of the recruiters. Yes safety is a major role these days as that is your license on the line and as well as your career anywhere you go with that safety csa record. But hey if you dont want to care and keep paying fines cause you cant figure out that your in the wrong then we cant help you if you dont want to help yourself.

How about doing what my company does and have a copy of the keys in the shop? That way no-one but the mechanics that work on your truck will get inside and if your in a hurry and lock yourself out you can get inside without calling a locksmith.

Gee, expecting a raise every once in a while, not pushed to run 20 hrs a day, expecting more than a 34 hr reset at home every 3 weeks. Way too much to expect from a company. Hate to tell you Big Time but the days of 5,000 miles/week for solo's are coming to an abrupt end. EOBR's are coming to every company in the near future as in a year or two.

47 years? That must beat that driver I read about with 6 Million safe miles for Roadway? I read about a couple of years ago. I doubt I'll be driving 30 yrs let alone 47 and no way with the same company. I've met JBHunt drivers that have been with them for 20 yrs so every driver can seem to find a company that fits them no matter who they are or what they want/expect.

IDK, both Roehl and Swift did that with me. I think it has a lot to do with your DM. Swift in particular, my boss most always either gave me 3 or 4 loads to choose from or asked me a direction I wanted to go. If I was in Texas I'd say North and get a load to Montana/Washington etc... Once I showed I'd take the crappy loads every once in a while without complaining I'd get the good ones on a regular basis. I think most companies are like this. Again, all depends on your DM

btw, JB also immediately sent me a message asking if I was ok when a hard brake showed up and if I didn't answer in a little bit they would call me and make sure I was ok. I would always make something up like "a dog jumped out of a parked car's window into the road but I missed it, all ok". Some companies, however, will council you if you show too many hard brakes as that is an indication you are driving too fast, tailgating etc..
