Metropolitan is safety concious to the extreme. They will not run you hard-maybe 2000 a week or so at most. Your trucks only run 63 miles per hour, do a lot of northeast, and spend lots of time when you hit the terminal talking to safety and watching safety films. You can't make much money there and I would advize staying away from them if you want to earn 'big' money. In fact, you won't make big money with most mega carriers or large companies like Metropolitan. J.B. Hunt is better than Metropolitan as far as pay is concerned. I worked for Metropolitan years ago and they are going downhill as far as earning potential is concerned. If you want to earn around $1600 a week average, you will most likely need to find a small company that utilizes paper logs and lets you have some free reign. Personally, I would never work for a mega carrier again. What about Purdy Bros? I think they pay 42 cents a mile at 2500 miles a week. I am not bragging, but I run about 3800 to 4200 a week every week, and sometimes 4500 at 45 cents for all miles-that's decent pay. You can't expect to be home every weekend if you want big money. Metropolitan is a run-of-the-mill company and certainly not a company where you can earn enough to build a new home, or put your childern through college. With 3 years or so of experience, drivers should be knocking on the $60,000 per year door as far as earnings. I realize that some don't care to earn that much and would rather be home-that's their choice. Also, if you have experience, demand a sign-on bonus or tell them to keep looking for a driver for their truck.

I worked for Metro, and there are no miles there. The excuse 'looking-out' for drivers is just that-and excuse to keep the company clear of any violations; not because they care about drivers. Furthermore, 63 mile per hour trucks are another example of how they care more about their record than allowing drivers to make money. Metropolitan is a 'run-of-the-mill company. If you want to spend more time sitting than running-than Metro is the place for you. You can get a taste of what semi-retirement is all about if you go over there. -
This guy doesnt know what he is talking about.

Been working for Star Transport out of Morton IL for about a year. Was a good starter company for me right out of school. I told myself when I started making less mistakes than they did, that would be the time to start looking. I applied with and got an offer from Metro. Can't seem to find any dirt on Metro. This is a dead thread and no news is good news. Can anyone give any feedback on Metropolitan Trucking? My research shows family owned, small fleet by design, and solid CSA scores. Yea? Nea? Anyone?

I currently work for Metro. I will say this: There are no miles, you do alot of sitting, and the pay is not that good. I am looking for another company to work for, but, I am trying to get through the holidays since I have 2 kids.

But other than that......LOL. Good luck in your search buddy.

Is this the norm, or is it the holiday slow down. I was told that average regional get 1800 and otr get 2300. What would you say the averages are?
