Reggie, I worked there in 2002 so info I have is outdated but... if you like 95 and 75 then you should do fine, mostly short runs, many that loaded later in day and run until you fall asleep or get it to customer. Trucks were a little underpowered for my taste but that's a personnal thing. It worked for me until I decided to move to Florida, Can't remember safety guys name but he was a smart guy and I will say he's probably one of two that I have ever really respected for their knowledge. If I ever move back north I would probably give them a call if I am still driving!!
Good luck if you decide to venture that way.

Metropolitan used to be one of the best out there-good people and good equipment. I did not NYC or Northeat, only Chicago to Texas, to Florida to NJ. No touch frieght. I think they were sold, and have gone downhill since from what I hear. Anyhow, that was in the early 90's. I too got into trouble with them over logs. However, you are smart to ask alot of quesitons about a company first and..always keep the back door open. All the best. PS> Stay away from CRST and Danny Herman, and Caroll Fulmer.

    [Metopolitan ]Hey Rhino:

Metropolitan used to be owned by a Jewish family-but great people and considerate. They were absolutely the best I ever worked for. NO NYC or N.E., only NJ to Chicago, to Brownsville Tx and back across to Miami for me. No touch freight and top people and equipment. Unfortunately-I got into trouble over logs. I think they were sold and have gone downhill since. All the best-PS-stay away from Danny Herman, Carrol Fulmer, CRST, and Glenn Moore.

Any recent info on this outfit. I know they have some newer trucks but like any company the new guys would end up with a 06 or 07. Just curious about the short haul pay and everything. Advertising for longhaul. Is that really what it would be?

they have way of starving people into sacraficing hometime or running your butt off on short stuff that dont pay...they have two fleets, where the new guys are forced dispatch and the favorites are givin the long miles...beware of brian ,anthony or chad...they are fond of telling you that $400 is a good paycheck...i asked for more miles and the vice president ed told me to get more detention time...after almost a year of sacrafice, i felt like the biggest sucker. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. A 325 TRUCK FLEET THAT HIRES 400 DRIVERS A YEAR AND IS PROUD OF IT IS A REAL LOSER.

I know they were overly safety concious as far as logs. They used to be a good company back in the early 90's. Kenny was really a great manager along with April, but that was a long time ago. Don't recognize the names now mentioned. They used to pay for everything you did-even $15 to sweep out the trailer and $25 to take a trailer across the street, extra for short haul. They also used to get me home every weekend and they used to ask me after every load where I wanted to go. They and the old MS Carriers were the two best that I have worked for. I am not sure how they are now. Just give them a chance. You know $400 a week is nothing nowadays. From what one driver told me recently in Texas, he was only getting around 2200 miles a week. Hope it works for you.
